So I am going to go ahead and call it a day on that one. I am certainly no expert on the subject, but I do know that the lines are not necessary on some of the most important parts of the rice, such as the endosperm and the germ.
I am not that good in the arts of cooking rice, but I do know that there are some rules and some tricks that can be used to make the rice look as glossy as possible. While soaking the rice, do not soak the rice too much or you’ll lose the shine. The rice should soak for at least a half hour, but I would suggest less than an hour.
I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true. The rice does get slippery, but it doesn’t take a lot of soaking for the endosperm to turn from a milky white to a shiny, shiny, shiny white. To achieve this effect, you need to add a little heat and a little water. So, if you’re getting a hard time with the first half of the recipe, add a little more water.
